Ben & Anna: Natural soda deodorants without plastic packaging

Ben & Anna: Natural soda deodorants without plastic packaging. This is a deodorant with 100% natural ingredients, vegan and cruelty-free, and also without plastic packaging – is that possible? Yes, it works very well if you know the natural soda deodorants from Ben & Anna.

It is clear that we do not use animal ingredients or animal testing in cosmetics and care products, but it is rather difficult for us to do without plastic completely.

A great product that completely dispenses with plastic, this deodorant is based on natural baking soda. The deodorant from Ben & Anna comes completely without plastic and therefore with cardboard packaging. They also actively support the environmental organization One Earth – One Ocean e.V. and thus contribute to the cleaning of inland waters, estuaries, and coastal areas.

About Ben & Anna

The namesake Ben and Anna are a vegan couple from Berlin. The two were very careful about their consumption and their consumer habits and sustainability is very important to them. For a long time, they were looking for a suitable deodorant that is not only vegan and free from animal testing but also does not contain conventional ingredients, aluminum, or unnecessary plastic.

Since the two did not find what they were looking for, they experimented themselves and developed their own deodorant made from natural ingredients that they could use with a clear conscience. With a lot of joy and tinkering, they have developed their own vegan deodorant series.

Good ingredients and fresh essences

The basis of action is natural baking soda. This is a purely natural ingredient and is known for its germ-reducing effect. It is combined with other good ingredients such as Shea butter and fresh essences. Arrowroot also ensures a drying effect, as it absorbs excess moisture.

There are currently 7 types of deodorant: Pure, Nordic Timber, Pink Grapefruit, Vanilla Orchid, Persian Lime, Indian Mandarine, and Provence. You see: whether sparkling and fresh, flowery-sweet with vanilla, warm and aromatic with cedar wood or sensual with a touch of India – there is something for every taste with the different varieties. The deodorant is suitable for both men and women.

Have we tested it?

Of course, we have also tested the deodorant ourselves in the last few weeks. The handling of the cardboard packaging is super easy. You just have to push the slide (bottom) of the stick up with your thumb and apply the deodorant to the armpit as with the well-known deodorant stick. A small amount is sufficient.

It is easy to apply and even after shaving it does not burn and is super easy on the skin overall. Despite the change, there was neither redness nor skin irritation. The effect also convinced us. Despite the purely natural ingredients, it works completely and we could not detect any unpleasant smells or negative aspects.

As for the smell, our favorites are Nordic Timber, Persian Lime, and Pink Grapefruit. Nordic Timber smells woody, whereas our other two favorites smell super refreshing. Overall, all deodorants smell very natural and keep what they promise. The smell is not too overloaded or even intrusive. The effect is great. Despite the purely natural ingredients, the deodorant works completely.

Sources of supply & prices

The most important thing at the end: Where can I get the soda deodorants and what do they cost? A Ben & Anna deodorant stick costs € 7.95. There is a volume discount in the online shop if you put together a set of three or six. The price is of course a little higher compared to many deodorants from the drugstore. Since we have only been testing the deodorant for a few weeks, we cannot yet say exactly how long a stick will last. At the moment it looks like it’ll take a while. The natural ingredients that are good for the skin and a sustainable deodorant with which you can have a clear conscience is definitely worth a little more money to us personally.

The deodorant sticks can currently be bought at Veganz, in some organic supermarkets such as denn’s and basic, or in many drugstores from Rossmann or dm Austria. More information about the deodorants, the backgrounds, and a shop finder is of course available on the website at www.ben-anna.com
